Star Wars Chess

Posted November 12th by Jay Crossler in Facebook, Games

I’m trying out some multiplayer game algorithms for development in a small mobile game.  Unfortunately, my OCD started acting up and I instead concentrated on building the game rather than the multiplayer algorithms.  I also spent way too much time learning object-oriented Flash.

Here’s my take on a “circular chess” board, like the one from Star Wars.  I’ve turned off turn tracking and scores, so anyone can click either side of the board.  I also made it so that you can change the number of rings.  It gets a little weird when you’re moving through the center of the board… how should you be able to move through the middle?  I’ve programmed pieces so that they can have multiple rules for movement, attacks, jumps, or blocking… so you can simulate knights or rooks or pawns.

I’ve posted a version here.

I’m considering making this into a Facebook MMO/arcade-type game.  The more you win, the more unique pieces you can buy.  Anyone want to help?
